Elevating the Outdoor Industry’s Workforce Resiliency in Alberta
The outdoor sector in Alberta is defined by operators and professionals who offer quality service with an excellent level of technical safety and skill. Outdoor professionals are the critical stewards of our natural spaces. This project aims to amplify and support the continuation of our sector’s success.
What are we doing?
- Consultation: Engaging with outdoor professionals like yourself to map existing competencies in our sector.
- Benchmarks: Identifying existing competencies and best practices into the National Occupational Standards (NOS).
- Integration: Ensuring that the on-the-ground knowledge is reflected in the NOS.
- Implementation: Providing tools to increase professionalism, skills, and standards in the industry.
We will consult with outdoor experts like yourself to map existing competencies in our sector, and ensure the on the ground expertise is represented in the NOS.

Meaningful consultation will ensure the adoption of the framework in a way that is useful for the industry to increase professionalism, skills and standards.
