Ceren Caner

Ceren is an outdoor educator and environmental learner living on the beautiful unceded and traditional territories of the Secwépemc people in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. He teaches at South Canoe Outdoor Learning School, a K-8 public program he helped develop eight years ago to help bring authentic, place-based immersion into our public system.

Ceren’s work is guided by curiosity, connection, and care for the more-than-human world. He believes that education should help us remember where we are and who we are within the living systems that sustain us. Ceren holds a Master’s in Environmental Education and Communication from Royal Roads University, and continues to explore how story, creativity, and time outdoors can weave together learning and belonging.

When he’s not teaching, Ceren is either with his family and/or mountain biking, foraging, noticing birdsong, or following his curiosity into the wild places that remind him why this work matters.
