Instructor Examiner Resources

On this page, you will find essential information and resources for the administration, delivery, and evaluation of an OCC Instructor course.

You will access the course materials by clicking on the “View your resources” box below. This will bring you into a Google Drive folder.

Please review the Instructor Examiner Reference Guide and other documents posted in that folder before you start planning the course. If you have not already looked at the Read This Page Before You Deliver Your Course webpage on your account page, please do so.

Two weeks before the course starts, you need to send your Instructor Candidates* the following information:

  • The lesson they will teach. Each Instructor Candidate will teach at least one lesson. It is your responsibility to let them know which one.
  • The materials they will need to prepare for the course (Pre-Course Questions, all FL Hiking Instructor Resources, Lesson Modifications,** IE Report, Additional Licenses Information, About the FL Program).

The materials to prepare for the course are found on the Google Drive in a folder titled “Materials to Send to Instructor Candidates”. You can download the materials and send them in an email or send them this link:

Instructor courses are delivered by the OCC’s national office. Individuals send us their applications to become Instructor Candidates. We review and approve them. Once approved, they can register for a course on our website. Once registered, we let you know that you have a new student for your instructor course, and we give you their email.

*Instructor Candidates: students to an instructor course. If they pass the course, they go from being a candidate to being an OCC instructor with a license to teach one or more courses.

** The Lesson Modifications are to save time on courses with full enrolment. If your course only has 4 Instructor Candidates, timing may allow them to teach the full lesson.
