Rachel Schmidt is excited to hold the position of Board Secretary with the Outdoor Council of Canada. She has a background in outdoor education and has worked as a program coordinator for Alberta Pioneer Camp for 9 years. In the winter she coaches cross country skiing to school children with Foothills Nordic’s Ski at School Program in Calgary, Alberta. Through her time working for Pioneer Camp, she has developed outdoor education curriculum and coordinated the out-tripping program. Training new staff and volunteers to develop their leadership skills in an outdoor context is a passion and joy of hers. She loves teaching and seeing people thrive in the outdoors. Rachel is excited to be involved in shaping and developing more opportunities for people to get outside through relationships and through organizations like the OCC.
