SUMMARY:OCC Field Leader - Hiking
DESCRIPTION:This OCC Field Leader (Hiking) Course will take place in and around Nordegg May 30-31\, 2026 (9am-5pm both days). \n\nDay 1 will take place in Nordegg\nDay 2 location TBD based on conditions (Nordegg/Abraham Lake area)\nThere is some pre-reading and quizzes involved prior to the course.\n\nThis course will provide the foundations for learning judgment and decision making and enabling the leadership of safe and enjoyable experiences outside. This course will give you the ability to:​ \n\n\nBring a group to an outdoor environment.  \n\n\nProvide a meaningful experience for your group\, whether the purpose is educational\, pleasure\, health\, well-being\, and/or connecting with nature. \n\n\nDesign a safe experience within the limits of your ability. \n\n\nIdentify the limit of your abilities and adjust accordingly.  \n\n\nFeel reassured knowing you are using industry-accepted practices providing proper care to participants and ensuring due diligence. \n\n\nThe Field Leader (Hiking) course focuses on the leadership skills and attributes required to take a group on a 3 season hiking excursion and provide an effective framework for managing risks. The course includes instruction and practice on planning and preparing an outdoor trip within an organizational structure.  \nCost: $230 + $20 certificate fee
