DESCRIPTION:The Outdoor Council of Canada’s Overnight Course will help deepen your connection with a community of practitioners committed to creating and delivering quality outdoor experiences across Canada. This course will give you the opportunity to learn and enhance essential leadership and backpacking skills and deepen your considerations of safety\, comfort and enjoyment for your participants.  Why not do this while exploring the stunning terrain around Elbow Lake\, located in Kananaskis Country! \n2-Day Backpacking Trip in Kananaskis Country (Elbow Lake\, Kananaskis) – $445 + GST per participant \nOnline Pre-Meeting (7:00 – 8:00): September 15\, Overnight: September 20-21\, 2025 \nPre-Requisites: Outdoor Council of Canada Field Leader Course (Hiking\, Paddling\, Equine)\, moderate Level of Fitness \nTo qualify for OCC Overnight Certification\, participants must attend all sessions and actively participate in activities.  There is some pre-reading and quizzes involved prior to the trip.  The Overnight module is not a stand alone course. It is designed for those already certified as an OCC Field Leader. \nWhat is Included: \n\nACMG Hiking Guide & OCC Instructor\nAB Park Camping Permits\nBreakfast (1)\, Lunch (2)\, Dinner (2)\, Snacks\nTents (shared accommodation for 4 people).  You can bring you own tent for an extra $24 and is based on availability\nGroup Camping Gear\nOutdoor Council of Canada Resources & Certification\n\n\n\nRegistration & Payment: After registering below\, you will receive a detailed email about payment\, program resources\, and paperwork.

DESCRIPTION:Outdoor Council of Canada’s 2 Day Field Leader Hiking Course provides the foundations for learning judgment and decision making and enabling the leadership of safe and enjoyable experiences outside. Taking OCC courses will give you the ability to: \n\nBring a group to an outdoor environment.\nProvide a meaningful experience for your group\, whether the purpose is educational\, pleasure\, health\, well-being\, and/or connecting with nature.\nDesign a safe experience within the limits of your ability.\nIdentify the limit of your abilities and adjust accordingly.\nFeel reassured knowing you are using industry-accepted practices providing proper care to participants and ensuring due diligence.\n\nField Leader courses focus on the leadership skills and attributes required to take a group outdoors and provide an effective framework for managing risks.Courses include instruction and practice on planning and preparing an outdoor trip within an organizational structure. Our courses apply for outdoor clubs\, camps\, outfitters\, schools\, community programs\, outdoor centres\, or any other context where outdoor activities are part of programming.Courses are designed to prepare Field Leaders to lead others in low-risk terrain. Our leadership courses are complementary to other outdoor courses such as technical skills and first aid. With sufficient experience and training\, Field Leaders can lead others in higher-risk terrain and remain within their Scope of Practice without needing more advanced training with the OCC.
