OCC Supervisor Course

The OCC Supervisor Course is part of a program offering introductory outdoor leadership certifications that focuses on a specific set of skills and practices required to enable supervisors to work effectively with leaders in the field in promoting safety and quality and outdoor activities.
This is a full day workshop (that can be held virtually) with an additional 6 virtual one hour sessions. Those who attend the workshop will receive a certificate of training and those who also attend the virtual sessions will receive the OCC Field Leader Supervisor certification.
THE FULL DAY WORKSHOP – Follows these 3 Outcomes
- THE SUPERVISION CYCLE – Parallels the Field Leaders Event Cycle, promotes quality and ensures due diligence, best practices and legal requirements.
- ATTITUDES and BELIEFS – Building trust, effective communication and understanding the Field Leaders strengths and needs supports effective supervision and program delivery.
- KNOWLEDGE and COMPETENCY – Supervisors understand their role (Oversight, Mentorship, Approval, can design a Risk Management process for their program and can self-assess their own knowledge of outdoor activities to decide what they need to learn to be effective Supervisors.
THE 6 ONE HOUR VIRTUAL SESSIONS
These session are designed to apply the theory presented in the course to one’s own practice and context. In addition, participants become part of a community of practice to learn with and from each other both during the sessions and in the future.
